VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT - DAWNLAND FESTIVAL OF ARTS & IDEAS
Did you know that on July 12th and 13th, we’ll be hosting our second annual Dawnland Festival of Arts and Ideas at the College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor? The Abbe staff is pulling out all the stops to make this a fantastic event, and we could use your help! Listed below are the volunteer opportunities for the Fesival for your review. Friday, July 11 | Noon - 2 pm, 2 - 4 pm
The Dawnland Festival of Arts & Ideas will be featuring artists, performers, and panelists from New England and beyond. The afternoon before the event, we need your help to welcome them to the Festival and familiarize them with the venue. Help us make a great first impression by joining us as a Check-In volunteer!

Saturday, July 12 and Sunday, July 13 | 9 am - 1 pm, 1 - 5 pm
This role is responsible for ensuring that the artists attending the Market are well taken care of. Responsibilities include distributing snacks, providing breaks, and engaging in conversation with them about their experience. Even a small amount of your time can make a significant impact!

Saturday, July 12 and Sunday, July 13 | 9 am - 1 pm, 1 - 5 pm
Volunteer as a Stagehand for a behind-the-scenes experience during performances and panels! In this role, you will assist the Abbe staff and the Stage Manager. Your responsibilities may include timekeeping, ushering, setting up the stage, and helping panelists and performers with their preparations.

Volunteers at the Abbe Booth will assist visitors by answering questions about the event, discussing other Abbe Museum programs, and promoting engagement with museum initiatives. If you enjoy giving directions or selling raffle tickets, this opportunity could be a great fit for you!

Sunday, July 13 | 5 - 7 pmVolunteers assisting with Set Up and Breakdown will be on hand to transform the College of the Atlantic into the Dawnland Festival of Arts & Ideas...and back again. Kind of like a fairy godmother, but with tools instead of a magic wand! Set up will be taking place on Saturday morning, with breakdown occurring on Sunday evening.

Under the expert guidance of our Luce Curator of Exhibits and Collections, Dr. Aaron Miller, Collection Volunteers are actively involved in cataloging, organizing, and conducting essential research. Your support can make a tangible difference in preserving and showcasing our rich collections!
Commitment: At least 3 hours, once per week.
Volunteers will be trained.

Are you looking for an opportunity to engage with people while contributing to the important work of the Abbe? You might be a great fit as an Education Volunteer! We are seeking weekly volunteers to help deliver our programs, which include arts and crafts, storytelling, touch tables, and leading tours. If you love teaching moments or enjoy connecting with individuals from all walks of life, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
Commitment: 2 hours at least once per week.
Volunteers will be trained.

We need volunteers to assist our marketing and development team in keeping up-to-date information flowing to our valued constituents, as well as assisting with mailings, data entry, and more! This is a great opportunity for everyone ranging from people who are social media influencers to folks who like to pick up the phone and chat to the very organized who love a good spreadsheet.
Commitment: 2 hours, at least once per week.
