Join the Abbe Museum education team at Reel Pizza Cinerama for a celebration of Indigenous films each month as we gear up for the inaugural Abbe Museum Indian Market Film Festival this May 18-20.

This lead-up series will feature a film each month until May, starting with the renowned film The Daughter of Dawn, a silent movie from 1920 which was only shown a few times during its original run. Set among the Kiowa people, the film reveals a love triangle between Dawn and two men from her tribe and demonstrates romantic tropes of Native peoples during this era in film history. Unlike later films in this genre, The Daughter of Dawn features an all-Native cast and was shot in Indian country.

This is a free event but donations will be accepted. Have questions? Contact us at educator@abbemuseum.org.
