The Abbe is pleased to offer a tour to visitors who are interested in learning more about the Wabanaki Nations and their homeland, art, culture, and history. Our core exhibit, People of the First Light, introduces visitors to the Wabanaki universe, engaging them with the culture and history of a people that is unfamiliar to many. Bringing together oral traditions, personal stories, cultural knowledge, language, and historical accounts with objects, photographs, multi-media, and digital interactives, People of the First Light shares a wide variety of content and perspectives around more than 12,000 years of history, conflict, adaptation, and survival in the Wabanaki homeland.
Participation is $1 in addition to admission, which helps support educational opportunities at the Abbe. Space is limited. To secure a place on this tour ahead of time or for more information, please contact us at educator@abbemuseum.org or 207-288-3519.
