The Abbe Museum Shop features authentic Native American baskets, carvings, jewelry, and other art forms by Abenaki, Micmac, Maliseet, Penobscot, and Passamaquoddy artists of Maine and the Maritimes. We also carry works by other Native artists outside of Maine, illustrating how different artists interpret cultural traditions and art forms. Maine-made products, books, children’s toys, and t- shirts are interspersed throughout the shop.
This spring, we’ll be launching a new website that will include a new, easy to use, online shop! Stay tuned for more details.
Our purchasing priority for the Shop is Wabanaki-made and Native-made products only. We strive to represent Native-owned businesses whenever we can. If you’re interested in becoming one of our vendors, please contact our Advancement & Gallery Associate, Jill Sawyer, to set up an appointment: firstname.lastname@example.org or (207) 288-3519.
In particular, we are looking for basketry, birchbark work, wood work and carvings, traditional and contemporary beadwork and jewelry, fabric work and textiles, holistic and health beauty products, recorded music (CD format), and wall and home décor style art. Please note that items should be crafted of quality materials, e.g. no dyed feathers, plastic, base metals, etc. Books and other publications are subject to review.
