The Abbe Museum Shop is proud to offer a beautiful selection of handcrafted Wabanaki basketry and birch bark items. These works of art are created by the Passamaquoddy, Micmac, Penobscot and Maliseet people, known as the people of the dawn. Our baskets and birch bark work range from simple, rugged utilitarian styles to intricate "fancy"styles. These baskets are created from brown ash, sweet grass, birch bark and are sometimes embellished with shell, antler or bone. A trip to Bar Harbor is not complete without stopping in to the Abbe Museum Shop and seeing these exquisite items for yourself.
