Darin Clement

"Tree Sleeping," by Darin Clement was done using construction paper and watercolors.
Clement is a Passamaquody in Grade 7 at the Indian Township School. He writes:

"All kinds of trees are important to our people. Trees have provided us with manythings necessary for our survival. Trees have to sleep in the winter to provide for us."

 

 

Chris Thornton

 

"An Eagle in the Sky," by Chris Thornton, was done in pencil. Thornton is a Passamaquoddy in Grade 5 at the Indian Township School. He writes:

"The artwork is an eagle in the sky. If you see an eagle up in the sky it means you're going to get good luck."

 

 

Christian Andoscia

 

"The Indian Fish," by Christian Andoscia was done on scratchboard. Andoscia is a Passamaquoddy in Grade 3 at the Beatrice Rafferty School. He writes:

"I was nervous because I wanted the picture to look good, but I felt good when I was done because it turned out well. The plants are seaweed. It makes me think of the sea and I like that."

 

 

Danica Attean

 

"Coast of Maine," by Danica Attean is an acrylic on paper. Attean is a Passamaquoddy and Penobscot in Grade 11 at Orono High School. She writes:

"I think this is a classic Maine scene which perfectly depicts the attraction of Maine's natural beauty."
