Museum purchase
Tim Shay learned traditional
Penobscot woodcarving from his father on Indian Island,
where he was born. He studied art at the Institute
for American Indian Arts in Santa Fe and received
an Associate of Fine Arts degree in 1987. His work
has been exhibited at museums, including the Wheelwright
Museum and Museum of Indian Arts and Culture in Santa
Fe and the Gilcrease Museum, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
